Opto-isolatoren met logische uitgang gebruiken licht om informatie over een elektrische isolatiebarrière te verzenden, meestal om veiligheids- of functionele redenen. Ze onderscheiden zich van andere soorten opto-isolatorproducten door de integratie van extra uitgangstrapcircuits voor versterking en drempeldetectie, waardoor uitgangssignalen worden geleverd die compatibel zijn met gewone logische signaalniveaus. Voor deze extra circuits is een externe stroombron nodig voor een goede werking.
